My presentation is taking three excerpts from the YouTube Video Titled "Activities Across Grade Levels:Fake News". Rushton Hurley has assembled this new series of recordings that dive deeper into a topic of interest to teachers at all levels. I picked this trilogy of videos to present because spotting misinformation is a skill we need to be teaching to littles, middle schoolers and high school students. We will know when the students are learning how to spot misinformation when they begin asking the six questions that are outlined at the Commonsense Media Site. For my students I would introduce my students to the littles lesson, and then begin a simplified version of the middle school lesson. Many of my students have shown me the 450 pound Dog video and they believe it is real. So I think this would be a great introduction that would engage my students and help develop their ability to ask questions and do the detective work that would help them spot fake news.
